
RIDVAN FESTIVAL
The Penang Bahá’í Community celebrated the Ridván Festival at the Penang Harmony Centre from the 26th of April until the 3rd of May. Ridván Festival marks the beginning of the Bahá’i faith in 1863.
Over the course of 8 days, a total of 600 participants had the experience of attending interactive talks and dialogues on the Bahá’í faith teachings, principles and practices as well as prayer sessions.
TAOISM DAY
Over the weekend of 29th and 30th April, the Federation of Taoist Associations Malaysia (FTAM) Penang together with HARMONICO held a Taoism Culture Exhibition and Forum at Ng Yam Huat Hall, Bukit Mertajam to showcase the rich culture of Taoism.
The Taoism Culture Exhibition showcased the rituals of Taoism, bringing up its past, enlightening the future, enhancing and also enlarging the colourful heritage and tales of Taoist Culture.
WESAK DAY
The Malaysian Buddhist Association in partnership with the Penang State Government through HARMONICO, organised the Penang Wesak Celebration Day 2023 at Wisma Malaysian Buddhist Association on the 30th of April. It was celebrated with programs such as float lighting ceremony, bathing of the Buddha, exhibition, and health screening. This event aimed to broaden the knowledge of the public on Buddhism by letting them explore, learn and discover about the religion through the activities prepared.
RAYA AIDILFITRI
On the 6th of May 2023, the organising committee from Masjid Sembilang alongside HARMONICO welcomed the locals living within the area in Seberang Jaya, Penang to participate in the open house in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri which fell on the 22nd of April. As the venue was one of the Houses of Worship in the Streets of Harmony, Seberang Jaya, HARMONICO collaborated with the mosque committee to make it a success this year.
KAAMATAN & GAWAI FESTIVAL
In conjunction with Gawai and Kaamatan, the Department of National Unity and National Integration (JPNIN) in collaboration with HARMONICO organised Sambutan Minggu Perpaduan Peringkat Negeri Pulau Pinang 2023 on the 27th of May 2023.
The event was held at the Butterworth Arena and was participated by Pertubuhan Siswa-Siswi USM (PERSIS USM), Perkumpulan Anak-Anak USM (PERKASA USM), the community from various churches, as well as the Sabahans and Sarawakians residing in Penang.
VAISAKHI
Persatuan Wadda Gurdwara Sahib Pulau Pinang and HARMONICO partnered to host the Vaisakhi Open House Celebration on the 4th of June 2023 at Fort Cornwallis, George Town. While celebrating the festivities with the Sikh community, the general public gained valuable insights into Sikh traditions, fostering interfaith understanding and building bridges of cultural appreciation.
DEEPAVALI
In the spirit of Deepavali, the Malaysia Hindu Sangam Bukit Bendera Local Council hosted their ‘13th Charity with Loving Community’ program at Penang Harmony Centre on the 5th of November 2023.
30 families from the B40 group received much-needed groceries, kitchen essentials, baking equipment, and prayer items. Ramakrishna Ashrama, Sinai Ceria Care Centre, and Penang Shan Children’s Home orphanages also received a surprise cash donation RM500 each and festive money packets for all the children.
CHRISTMAS
Penang State Government through HARMONICO and the Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) Penang organised the Penang State Christmas Celebration 2023 with the theme ‘Season of Hope’.
The event took place on the 9th and 10th of December 2023 with The TOP Penang as the venue sponsor. The celebration offered a variety of activities for the public to enjoy such as Christmas Markets, performances, and Deco Lights-Up as a gimmick for the launching ceremony.
